Chart posted shows how to reach the ultimate IEHA goal of cutting hunger and poverty in half in sub-Saharan Africa. The way this can be achieved is to increase rural income. To increase rural income in Africa, three related steps are needed. First, the productivity of small farmers must be enhanced though new technology and the teaching of effective techniques. Secondly, the policies, such as trade rules that affect farmers, need to be improved. Thirdly, there must be more agricultural trade, both regionally and internationally. This can be achieved by improving factors such as road development or trade capacity building for government policy makers.
